Complete oxidation of methane on CoO-SnO catalysts

Xingfu TANG , Jiming HAO , Junhua LI ,

Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering 2009, Volume 3, Issue 3,   Pages 265-270 doi: 10.1007/s11783-009-0019-2

Abstract: CoO-SnO hybrid oxides were prepared by the coprecipitation method and were used to oxidate methane (CH) in presence of oxygen. The CoO-SnO with a molar ratio of Co/(Co+Sn) at 0.75 exhibited the highest catalytic activity among all the CoO-SnO hybrid oxides. Experimental results showed that the catalysts were considerably stable in the CH combustion reaction, and were verified by X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS). It was found that CoO was the active species, and SnO acted as a support or a promoting component in the CoO-SnO hybrid oxides. The surface area was not a major factor that affected catalytic activity. The hydrogen temperature-programmed reduction (H-TPR) results demonstrated that the interaction between cobalt and tin oxides accelerated the mobility of oxygen species of CoO-SnO, leading to higher catalytic activity.

Nanostructured gold films exhibiting almost complete absorption of light at visible wavelengths

Hanbin Zheng, Christine Picard, Serge Ravaine

Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering 2018, Volume 12, Issue 2,   Pages 247-251 doi: 10.1007/s11705-018-1710-2

Abstract: Nanostructured metal surfaces have been known to exhibit properties that deviate from that of the bulk material. By simply modifying the texture of a metal surface, various unique optical properties can be observed. In this paper, we present a simple two step electrochemical process combining electrodeposition and anodization to generate black gold surfaces. This process is simple, versatile and up-scalable for the production of large surfaces. The black gold films have remarkable optical behavior as they absorb more than 93% of incident light over the entire visible spectrum and also exhibit no specular reflectance. A careful analysis by scanning electron microscopy reveals that these unique optical properties are due to their randomly rough surface, as they consist in a forest of dendritic microstructures with a nanoscale roughness. This new type of black films can be fabricated to a large variety of substrates, turning them to super absorbers with potential applications in photovoltaic solar cells or highly sensitive detectors and so on.

A complete modeling and simulation of DFIG based wind turbine system using fuzzy logic control

Abdelhak DIDA,Djilani BENATTOUS

Frontiers in Energy 2016, Volume 10, Issue 2,   Pages 143-154 doi: 10.1007/s11708-016-0402-1

Abstract: The current paper talks about the variable speed wind turbine generation system (WTGS). So, the WTGS is equipped with a doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) and two bidirectional converters in the rotor open circuit. A vector control (VC) of the rotor side converter (RSC) offers independent regulation of the stator active and reactive power and the optimal rotational speed tracking in the power maximization operating mode. A VC scheme for the grid-side converter (GSC) allows an independent regulation of the active and reactive power to exchange with the grid and sinusoidal supply currents and keeps the DC-link voltage constant. A fuzzy inference system (FIS) is adopted as an alternative of the conventional proportional and integral (PI) controller to reject some uncertainties or disturbance. The performances have been verified using the Matlab/Simulink software.

Shi Aifen,Xie Jianhua

Strategic Study of CAE 2002, Volume 4, Issue 11,   Pages 89-93

Abstract:

Starting with the requirements of the society and consumers, this article focuses on the study of the flowchart and the technique of forming the ideas of creating a completely new product. Taking the analysis of the process of forming the idea of inventing a flying machine as an example, it explores the internal law of forming the ideas of creating a completely new product.

In the course of the study, the following steps are taken: Firstly, find the main characteristics of the product designed in mind. Secondly, look for the matter which possesses these characteristics according to the implicative nature of matter-element. Thirdly, compose these elements on the basis of their internal relations and a proper principle to get a system set of matter-element. Finally, adjust, perfect and evaluate it and get the set of ideas of creating a completely new product.
